Methodist Church Music Society (MCMS) services


We want to to encourage and develop the use of all forms of music in worship throughout the Methodist Church.To achieve this we offer the following services. Click on any coloured and underlined heading below for more details:


Annual Conference
   We arrange an annual weekend conference (October) with
   workshops, guest speakers, activities, bookstalls and
   opportunities for members to exchange ideas.

Magazine 'Notes'
    We publish a twice yearly magazine 'NOTES' free to members
    and available for purchase by non-members.

Long Service certificates
   We supply certificates for long-serving church musicians
   irrespective of whether or not they are MCMS members.

Instrumental parts
    We can supply Methodist churches with instrumental
   arrangements of tunes in Hymns and Psalms.
Financial assistance
   We offer financial assistance for tuition
   (via the Freeman (Methodist) Music Trust and
   other Trust Funds) to young people using their
   musical gifts in the service of the Methodist Church.

MCMS Library
   The MCMS library, housed in Wesley College, Bristol,
   includes a comprehensive collection of hymn and tune
   books from the 1737 Charleston Hymnal to the present
   day. It also holds a collection of liturgical and general
   books on music and composers, from the same period
   including some that relate specifically to the Wesley Heritage.
