In 1996 the Methodist Conference asked the Methodist Church Music Society (MCMS) to produce a training resource to help those people with responsibility for leading music in worship.

The organ & keyboards training scheme has been designed to encourage existing organists, potential organists and other keyboard players, who have been persuaded to "fill a vacant seat" and find a real sense of vocation in playing suitable music for worship
